Museo Stanguellini
A WINDOW INTO THE GREATEST YEARS OF MODENA MOTORSPORTS
Nowhere could more genuinely celebrate the timeless passion for motors that has always been in the air in Modena than this small period workshop where “magic” became part of the routine: weight reductions, chassis modifications and use of innovative materials transformed ordinary motors into cars with incredible performances. It is here, in the former workshop of the Fiat dealership run by the Stanguellini family for more than 80 years, that our classic car museum is located.
WE WELCOME YOU TO
Motor Valley
A visit to Museo Stanguellini is an experience not to be missed by anyone wishing to appreciate the most authentic spirit of “Motor Valley”, the name given to the area of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region where some of the world’s top car and motorcycle construction business were born and are still headquartered. With an impressive offering of museums and famous international circuits, this part of the Province of Modena attracts thousands of tourists every year. Stanguellini Automobili and its classic car collection is a must-see location for anyone interested in the cultural significance of Modena and its inspirational creators in the automotive industry.
EXPERIENCE THE MOOD OF THE
GOLDEN AGE OF MOTORSPORTS
The Stanguellini car collection is displayed in the old workshop where Vittorio Stanguellini once tuned his racers, which have gone down in history thanks to their legendary victories against other top names in Italian and international car construction. Walking into the Museo Stanguellini exhibit takes you on a journey back in time: seemingly crystallised in that golden age of hard work, enthusiasm and thrilling feats on the racing circuits, it welcomes visitors and guides them in the discovery of classic competition cars and period mechanics’ tools. The Museum aims not only to conserve the memories of a glorious past but also to give visitors a real “feel” for a period that profoundly shaped our area’s culture.
“It’s hard to describe the extent to which everyone felt caught up in that success and the spirit that inspired us; we were all eager to conquer the world together.”
Francesco Stanguellini
STANGUELLINI CARS AND
THE PRIVATE COLLECTION
The Museum visit is a journey that traces the origins of the Stanguellini business in 1879 and its conversion into a car construction outfit. It first focuses on the victorious Stanguellini models built by this workshop in the most glorious years of Modena motorsports before moving into wider automotive history with the wonderful Stanguellini private collection: cars of various makes which the Stanguellini family bought over the years in order to race them or just to celebrate its deep-seated passion for motors. The experience starts with a truly historic item: the Modena 1, a 1908 Fiat Tipo 1 with registration number MO/1.
THE DANILO TAVONI EXHIBITION
THE MASTER BUILDER
OF CLASSIC CAR REPLICAS
The Museum visit ends with the exhibit dedicated to Danilo Tavoni, a homage to one of Modena’s greats, whose work helped to establish the fame of Italian cars worldwide. Nicknamed “Golden Hands” by Enzo Ferrari and Vittorio Stanguellini, Danilo Tavoni started out at 12 years of age on a long, brilliant career that began right here, and during which he worked for the most renowned constructors. Until the end he constantly collaborated with the Stanguellini workshop, with the same enthusiasm as back in the old days, when – as he used to say – “we did so much with so little”. We look forward to welcoming you, to introduce you to an amazing collection of vintage-style motorcycles built by one of the Twentieth Century’s most outstanding automotive craftsmen, who helped to write a page in the history of motoring that is the envy of the world.
